Program Mission Statement

The criminal justice program is designed to graduate students with an understanding of its structure and process, including personnel and historical foundation. The program seeks to educate pre-service as well as in-service students with the appropriate scholarship that emphasize community, governmental and global partnerships in resolving the complexities of public policy, criminality, crime prevention and control. Graduates are prepared with extensive research and problem solving skills needed for analytical thinking and decision making.as they become "change agents" within the system.

The discipline of criminal justice at Savannah State University is committed to meet the following program student learning objectives:

1. The student will describe the functions and roles of each component of the criminal justice system.

2. The student will identify the fundamental elements of criminal law.

3. The student will identify the major criminological theories associated with crime causation.

4. The student will evaluate, analyze and conduct research in the area of criminal justice.

Increase instructional delivery modes by offering more on-line courses 

Increase hybrid and fully on-line courses each year with the use of University initiative technology

Faculty members will be trained in on-line course construction and delivery.

The number of these courses will be tracked.
